The first place to start with the gifts is home plate. Jesus has many gifts in store for us as His children. However, you are not allowed access to them in there fullness unless you are His heir. Home plate is Romans 6:23. Paul tells us, ‘ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Just to remind both of us, we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 Again, the gift and good news is in verse 24, ‘and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Jesus Christ.‘ Amen!
Let us rejoice together that our payment or wages for our sin has been paid for by the LORD Jesus Christ. I like to work hard for things in life. But no amount of work on my part would have been enough to make that payment. So I, too, rejoice greatly for He has given us that great gift! If we continue in the baseball analogy for this post, we can’t stay on home plate. We must move and to first, second, third and home plate. Each base is like receiving a gift as we spend time in this Christian journey. Just like a baseball player loves to reach home plate to score, Jesus will allow us many times at the bases, receiving different gifts from Him, but home plate will always be the best gift! He always has a way to bring us back to treasuring our first gift, Him!
As Jesus has blessed my life with redemption, forgiveness from my sins and given me a whole new life, He has also given me innumerabe gifts. The great news is that He wants me to share these with you, so as to heighten your awareness of the gifts He has given you and will give you. You will become a gift watcher! Always remember the first gift is like home plate. When He brings you back to that greatest gift, it’s not a regression but a greater revelation! You score! From your sister who loves gifts and wants you to experience them too! Heidi
